Welcome to join the little introduction to some of the exhibit pieces of Shola
Birgitt Star, belonging to
the cyclus of her works and research on Celjski
Grofje. It will be held informally tomorrow
evening at 9 o'clock,
in the gallery of Hostel Celica, Metelkova, presided by Janko Rozic,
Kud Sestava.
"The occasion to work on the Celje castle, in the summer of 2001, following
the invitation of Mihajlo Lisanin of the gallery Likovnih del mladih, has brought
me to be closely involved in those destinies which I believe are present in the
very atmosphere of this beautiful site to this day. My presence there allowed
the spirit of the Dukes of Celje to relive in imaginary portraits and sculptures,
in an attempt to make a contemporary and responsible replay of history in order
to consciously learn a lesson for our own choices in life, and for a more articulate
understanding of human destinies in history, in all their ethic implications.
Here the theme involved Political Brides and Grooms, as a natural continuity of
my former works, called "Brides"..." Shola Birgitt Star - Moen,
Denmark, 2004
"Shola Birgitt Star dedicates her life and creativity to search for and awaken
the suppressed image of Woman, to rediscover her basic characteristics, values
and essence, thus sharpening her intellect and deepening her compassion. As a
sculptor and painter she represents the magnitude of Woman's personality which
is often overlooked by men - blinded by the uter beauty of her image. As a therapist
and workshop leader she awakens and activates the recognition of the female aspects
of life, which should be familiar to both men and women. She examines the role
and image of woman in history and uncovers the causes which lead to today's dis-union
and opposition between men and women." Jadranka Tavčar, Ljubljana August
2001
